“Gang Green” Introduces 3 New Bills

SB261: Public Utilities Commission Encourage Renewable Energy Generation
This bill expands exemptions for renewable energy providers to the detriment of oil & gas producers. Senator Stephen Fenberg (D) sponsored this bill. He wants to put oil and gas out of business in Colorado.

SB264: Adopt Programs Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions Utilities
Senator Chris Hansen (D) is joined by Senator Don Coram (R) in creating more regulations on gas utilities, forcing them to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 5% by 2025 and 20% by 2030. Another attack on oil and gas that will raise consumer energy prices.

SB272: Measure to Modernize The Public Utilities Commission
Senator Fenberg (D) and Senator Chris Hansen (D), are sponsoring a bill that, among other things, will remove the .25% cap that the PUC charges regulated utilities based on their gross operating revenue. This is basically a blank check for the PUC to charge and spend whatever it wants to create and execute more regulations.

It also directs the commission to “improve equity and prioritize disproportionately impacted communities.”

Perhaps a better approach would be to reduce heavy handed regulations on fossil fuels and eliminate subsidies to green energy. Let those “impacted communities” enjoy cheaper energy prices.  Let the free market create clean energy solutions that are affordable.

Find your state legislators HERE and tell them to VOTE NO on SB261, SB264 and SB272. We need affordable energy for all Coloradans.
